Important Flood Information
September 8thThe Congressman emailed supporters the following message earlier today:
Dear Friends --
I’ve returned to Pennsylvania’s 11th District from Washington, D.C. due to the unprecedented flooding which has necessitated a state of emergency here in Northeastern Pennsylvania. My office and I are working with local, state, and federal officials during this crisis.
I want to encourage all residents to listen to their local emergency management officials and obey all mandatory evacuation orders.
If you are interested and able in volunteering. Here’s some information on how you can help:
- Volunteers are needed for filling sandbags at Kirby Park, the Wilkes-Barre side of the Market Street Bridge, and at a staging area at the former Valley Crest nursing home in Plains Township.
- Volunteers are needed at the various shelters. Please call the Wyoming Valley chapter of the American Red Cross at 570-823-7161.
- If you would like to make a donation to the Red Cross in our area, click here. Your support is needed at this critical time.
Again, I want to encourage all of those that are able to help out.
Sincerely,
Congressman Lou Barletta
