Protecting Your Rights

I believe that the Second Amendment to the United States Constitution guarantees an absolute individual right to keep, own, and use firearms.

If I am fortunate enough to represent you in Washington as your Congressman, I give you my word that I will fight every attempt to register, ban, or limit the purchase of firearms, magazines, or ammunition.

Recognition of Your Rights

Your constitutional rights should not start or end when you cross state lines. I support national Right‐to‐Carry reciprocity legislation that will allow a person to carry firearms for self‐defense
while traveling throughout the United States if he or she is licensed to carry a firearm by any state.

Protecting Our Hunting Heritage

Millions of acres of public land provide the only hunting opportunities to Americans. In order to protect this land and our hunting heritage, we must establish a policy of No Net Loss of public hunting land. If land use patterns, urban growth, or land management decisions force the limitation of access or closure of public lands to hunting the federal government should compensate sportsman by opening new hunting opportunities elsewhere on the same acreage.

Statement on McDonald v. Chicago

“As a gun owner and member of the NRA, I’m pleased at today’s Supreme Court ruling in thecase of McDonald v. Chicago. This decision affirms that the Second Amendment right to bear
arms is a protected right that state and local governments cannot infringe upon. In an era that has seen the rapid expansion of our government, it’s heartening to see big government reined in a bit, particularly in an area of constitutional freedom.”

Statement on District of Columbia v. Heller

“As a gun owner and as an American I believe today is a great day for the Second Amendment and a great for all of America. This was the proper decision.”
