Pro-Life Group Endorses Congressman Lou Barletta in Pennsylvania Senate Race

Sen. Bob Casey Jr. is not like his father, a governor who made a name for himself as a strong pro-life Democrat, a national pro-life organization said this week.

Casey, a Democrat from Pennsylvania and son of the late Gov. Bob Casey Sr., is running for re-election in the fall against U.S. Rep. Lou Barletta, a pro-life Republican. Casey Jr. says he is pro-life, but he repeatedly has voted against pro-life legislation and supported the abortion giant Planned Parenthood.

The National Right to Life Committee endorsed Barletta on Monday and cited Casey’s voting record as a reason.

“Bob Casey is not his father,” said Carol Tobias, president of NRLC. “There is a stark contrast between Lou Barletta, who supports legal protection for unborn children, and Bob Casey, who has repeatedly voted to give hundreds of millions of tax dollars to Planned Parenthood, which performs about one out of every three abortions in America.”

The late Pennsylvania Gov. Bob Casey Sr. was a strong pro-life Democrat who fought to protect unborn babies and mothers and challenged the abortion industry. Townhall reports he “famously fought Planned Parenthood in the Supreme Court … and is known as one of Pennsylvania’s most iconic pro-life leaders.”

In contrast, his son has a 100-percent voting score from NARAL, a radical pro-abortion group that attacks pregnancy centers and advocates for abortion for any reason up to birth. One was to oppose a bill allowing states to defund Planned Parenthood, the largest abortion chain in America.

Last year, he also bizarrely claimed that he supports Planned Parenthood, which aborts 320,000 unborn babies a year, because it “reduces abortions.” Just a little research on Casey’s part would have shown just the opposite. Planned Parenthood’s priority is abortions. It throws pizza parties to reward employees that exceed their abortion quotas, and in 2013, it gave one of its Colorado clinics an award for “for exceeding abortion visits.”

Casey’s voting record on pro-life legislation is a mere 20 percent, while Barletta has a 100-percent pro-life voting record, according to NRLC.
