Former mayor and congressman Lou Barletta, leading Republican candidate for governor of Pennsylvania, today announced the formal endorsement of Senate Majority Whip John Gordner. Citing Barletta's dedication and record fighting for northeast Pennsylvania, Gordner joins a growing list of northeast Pennsylvania legislators rallying behind Barletta's grassroots campaign including: Senator Lisa Baker, Rep. Aaron Kaufer, Rep. Jonathan Fritz, Rep. Jack Rader, Rep. Karen Boback and Rep. David Millard.
"I am pleased to endorse Lou Barletta for Governor," said Senate Majority Whip John Gordner. "I worked closely with Congressman Barletta when he represented our area for almost a decade. He was always available and responsive to our constituent needs. As a former Mayor of Hazleton, he has executive experience as well. With record inflation, employers looking for trained staff, and with the loss of our energy independence reflected in spiraling energy prices, I am confident that Lou Barletta is the candidate with proven leadership abilities who can guide Pennsylvania to a much better tomorrow. As Senate Majority Whip, I look forward to working alongside of Governor Lou Barletta."
"I am grateful to be endorsed by Senate Majority Whip John Gordner," said Barletta." Pennsylvanians are desperate for change in Harrisburg. They want a government that actually stands up and fights for the people - not the special interests or lobbyists. I am proven, road-tested, and ready. As governor, I look forward to working closely with Sen. Gordner and other legislators so we can finally turn the page on the disastrous Wolf/Shapiro regime and unleash the Great Pennsylvania Comeback."
